So there’s this little thing I’ve been a part of for the last year and a bit that’s been everything in my new mama journey, and we call it the MOM CLUB.
It’s not as exclusive as it sounds, promise.
It’s just me and my girls Jenna Kutcher and Ashlyn Carter, two boss-lady mamas who had their littles within a week of when Noah was born.
And our “club” is us voice texting each other every week with all kinds of crazy questions that we’re afraid to google and “… did that really just happen” baby moments. And lots of laughter. Always laughter.
It’s the best.
These women are powerhouses in their businesses and they’re showing me what it looks like to walk through the tender days of new motherhood with grace….aka they’re the best crew I could’ve asked for as I navigate these new waters too.
You may have seen that we got together (via zoom because we’re spread out across the country) at the end of 2019 for one of our regular girl time chats, but this time? We recorded the whole sweet convo so that YOU could listen in.
Did you catch it yet? It’s over on Jenna’s show, the Goal Digger Podcast. Just scroll back to episode 317 in your podcast app or you can click right through here to give it a whirl.
Honestly? You don’t need to be a mama to listen. Yes, we talk about year one of raising babies, and yes we discuss how mamahood has shifted our lives and businesses in all the ways.
But on a deeper level, this convo was so needed for me and maybe for you too, to realize that perfect balance isn’t really a thing.
To see that protecting my time and my “yesses” is more important than ever before.
To know big transitions are rarely easy, but easy stuff doesn’t teach you the big things you need to grow into the person you’re meant to be.
Being a mama showed me that more fully than ever.
So if you have a lot on your plate, have littles of your own, want kids sometime in the future, or just need a little hang time with a group of girlfriends, you’re more than welcome to join in on this little love sesh and real talk hang that we had.
And truly, I think you’ll get something good out of it, too.
Because as we dove into the fears we had about becoming mothers, we uncovered this real common ground that I don’t think is just shared between the three of us.
That self-care and healthy choices will be there when we make time for them— baby, booming business, crazy & chaotic life or not.
That cutting time between motherhood and business owner and wife and friend and all the other hats we wear can be a split, a really beautiful split, but it’s still a split that isn’t always easy to walk through.
And that anytime you’re going through change– big, small, life changing, day to day changing, or somewhere between– the best thing to do, always, is find little ways to give yourself grace. And space. And to take care of you unrelentingly.
Even when it doesn’t feel like there’s time.
Scratch that. ESPECIALLY when it doesn’t feel like there’s time.
Me and my mom club talked about it alllll, and had a few laughs about our mess-ups along the way too.
Because that’s what this year has been, for all three of us: figuring it out as we go, asking for support where we need it, learning to surrender in new ways, not always getting it right, but giving ourselves the grace necessary to learn, take it slow, grow in so many ways, and be really good moms AND really good entrepreneurs.
At the same time. Mistakes and all, with each other on speed dial if necessary.
I hope you’ll listen in and find you’re not alone with whatever path you’re navigating right now. Listen to the episode right here or search “goal digger Sarah Adler” in your podcast app.
You might just end up joining our club and become our new bestie.
