I knew you guys were my people. Any time I post something I’m making or a recipe I’m working on in my kitchen, my DMs get flooded with questions. “What is that? Can I have the recipe?!”…. and my messages are never more buzzy than when I’m pouring up a bevvie to sip on, doesn’t matter if it’s hot, cold, caffeinated, calming, alcoholic or mocktail style.
And to tell you a secret, it’s sort of my favorite thing ever. I LOVE hearing from you guys and getting to share fun ideas for what to make and enjoy in your own homes.
Even now, when I’m juuust about 9 months pregnant and my drinks have a bit less “kick” to them these days, they’re still a hot topic of discussion. Tis the season I guess right? Hot sunny days call for refreshing and cooling
So I figured it was time for another round-up, but this time summer cocktail style. Because even though I can’t participate in that right now, you better believe I’m having alllll the fun with bright and summery mocktails and alcohol-free versions of this list. I’m totally Team Still Make It Fun regardless of what’s in your glass.
BTW. If you’re not drinking currently either, my three BEST tips for mixing up mocktails are these:
- Use your favorite sparkling water (or kombucha!) in place of alcohol in cocktail recipes (i.e., in a margarita, instead of the tequila you could do a plain or natural lime flavored sparkling water). My favorites are Topo Chico or the Whole Foods brand of sparkling water in glass bottles (strawberry is my favorite). Soooo good, and fancy feeling, too! Just a warning– do NOT shake any sparkling water in a cocktail shaker, it explodes 🙂
- When you can, muddle in some fresh fruit! This takes a mocktail (or a cocktail) from good to unreal. I love a freshly muddled strawberry or blackberry concoction, or in a pinch, just squeeze in some fresh lemon or lime!
- Garnishes & herbs. USE THEM. They’re not just for pasta dishes and salads. Really! Mint, basil, and rosemary make some of my favorite mock/cocktail additions. Add them as a garnish or muddle them up with your fruit… so fun!
You can use these tips in any and all of the cocktails listed below to make them delicious whether they’re alcohol free, or not! You do you, mama. Enjoy and have fun sipping on these summer cocktails!
The best summer cocktails to try this season
Easy & Clean Palomas: give me ALL the grapefruit, all summer long. Palomas are a summer bevvie MVP.
For a mocktail version try coconut lacroix + 1/2 grapefuit juiced over iced. So good!
Spicy Cilantro Limeade: mocktail version is linked up here— just add 1.5 oz. of tequila, gin or vodka to make it a sunny cocktail!
The Healthy Margarita: with 3 options to have fun with it— you can go with spicy, cucumber mint, or ginger kombucha!
Or if you’ve never tried my original & famous skinny marg recipe, get to it here. I’m already dreaming of my first one over here, don’t laugh.
Aperol Spritz: this is a summertime necessity in my book. You can also do a lower alcohol version with all sparkling water instead of prosecco, tons of ice and a splash of aperol.
Cucumber Basil Gin & Tonic: mmmmm, the cucumber and basil take this classic to a next level.
Mocktail version: leave out the gin & add more soda and tonic instead
Meyer Lemon Easy Mocktail: I love this simple, summery bevvie!
Blackberry Shrub: these are so fun! Just add your favorite spirit (oh, and you can make this with any fruit you’d like, not just blackberries)! I have a batch in the fridge right now I’m testing with some Rainier cherries that were about to go bad.
I hope these add some color and brightness to your summer! Comment which one you can’t wait to try below!
