Expensive jarred applesauce is so outdated. Sweet, fresh apples, water, cinnamon and 15 minutes are all you need. Because then you can make pies.
Do I have your attention yet?
Ingredients:
10 fuji, gala or golden delicious apples (any assortment)
3/4 cup water
cinnamon- lots of it
Directions:
Slice apples into smaller sized chunks.
2Add to a large pot over medium heat. Add water and stir apples up from the bottom as they heat. Reduce heat slightly and cover and cook, stirring occasionally, until the water is absorbed. Mashing the apples with a fork as they soften.
Add more water if you need it. Cooking time is approximately 15 mins from start to finish.
Add generous amounts of cinnamon and stir. Use an immersion blender to puree parts of it for a smoother consistency, or keep it chunky (my favorite).
For kids, add 1-2 tsp of honey to bring out the natural sweetness if you’d like.
Or, turn it in to an impressive and easy dessert with individual Applesauce Pies.
Just as good as an apple pie, but WAY less sugar and WAY less work. Jackpot.
