The bevvie lady is back this week. With a little upgraded hot chocolate for you! Whether it’s for the snowy winter weather or a little treat for your valentine, one thing is for sure- you’re gonna want this one in your repertoire.
Using dates as a natural sweetener, you’ll get less of a blood sugar spike than regular sugar = all the treat without the crash or extra cravings spiked after. Of course, you can leave out the dates and just use a splash of maple syrup or honey too if you want a more traditional REAL version of hot chocolate.
Ingredients:
Makes 1 serving
1/2 cup milk of choice (I love Three Trees Organic Vanilla Almond Milk or the MALK brand)
1/2 cup water
1 1/2 teaspoons cocoa powder
2 dates, pits removed
1 teaspoon vanilla
Add all ingredients to a saucepan to warm. When hot, pour liquid into a blender and blend until smooth, approximately 1 minute. Optional to add a dash of maple syrup, cinnamon, butter or add ins like collagen peptide powder if you’d like ( I like a little of all three lately).
Or if you’re feeling really festive, a little drop of peppermint extract or some homemade whipped cream on top.
Love this recipe? You’d love the cookbook then too. And be sure to check out the brand new Food Academy, now open for enrollment, and the seasonal meal plans!
