A few of things (ok, fine all the things) I am loving this fall, that are helping to keep me healthy, inspired and on top of my game this season. And full of joy. Because, one without the other is just no way to live.
In the categories of ADORN, TO EAT, KITCHEN MUST HAVE’S, SKIN BOOSTERS, TO READ & TO LISTEN. Per request, rounded up in one spot, so you don’t have to keep chasing down my instagram stories.
Because Fall is big. For so many reasons. And for so many of us, it’s a big shift- in schedules, weather, energy, activities, our mentality, etc. And let me say: In a GOOD way. We need all the seasons, because there is a time for everything. (If you missed my post last week about this, catch up here).
On of my favorite rituals is making a list of all the things to be excited for that are specific to that season itself. I do this almost every season and it’s a great way always have more to look forward to and embrace— and a reminder to me that change isn’t always something to avoid.
Truly, it keeps things fresh and interesting. It keeps us on our toes, and from getting too far into auto-pilot. And it’s a great reminder to be intentional with what we’re incorporating into our everyday lives– even if it takes some planning, and some major stepping outside our comfort zones. I mean, couldn’t we all use a little more of that?
Seasons give it to us, naturally.
So in the spirit of getting excited about what’s ahead here is a little roundup of my current favorite things that help me get fully into and loving this time of the year.
TO ADORN
While I feel a little ridiculous posting what I’m wearing sometimes, the truth is that I do love creating and crafting how I A D O R N myself. And also, so many of you ask me, almost daily on instagram. If you didn’t, I’d keep this territory to the professionals themselves 🙂
That’s how I think about it– adorning myself. I talk a lot about this in the Simply Real Life program (it opens again for the year in April for those of you waiting), how important it can be to think about. Asking yourself things like: how do I want these clothes to make me feel? Texture wise, but also how I show up in my own skin and presence each day. Much like food, workouts, and the people I surround myself with, a little intention and a lot of joy go a long way.
I’ve been really all about buying less stuff lately, and way more into investing in a few higher quality and well made pieces that I know will hold up over time, and that I know I’ll just feel really great wearing. Just like food, and my workouts, and my skincare products— if it doesn’t make me feel amazing , it’s just not worth buying or keeping around, you know?
So let’s get into my most-loved things to wear right now:
Like a Permanent Hug:
Confession: I am a cozy jacket hoarder. Like, for real. Living in Seattle I wear one every single day of my life from September through June so I figure it’s at least a practical obsession.
Will someone please tell me that sherpa/teddy coats will never go out of style? They’re truly all I ever want on my body this time of year. I love this one (in honey), this one (I love that zipper) and I just ordered this one .
Also, it’s not a sherpa but I can’t stop looking at this one. Why do I feel like I would wear it everyday?! And all those colors.. hmm.. should I do it?
In other news, have you noticed a fall trend that’s not stopping? I’m here for it. This looks like a great way to get on the train if you’re timid about it.
The raincoat that says: Hi, I’m a PROFESSIONAL Seattle-ite (or wherever you live). Like, I see you Fall & Winter. I’ve got this. Similar ones here and here.
For your Feet:
These rainboots (or this similar pair here) have been my go-to for my morning walks with my baby… no matter the weather. I needed a pull-on pair that are quick and also that I can wear around town too (with both my fav jeans or my lululemons). Because let’s be real, I’m Seattle born & raised and nothing will get in my way of getting my fresh air and walking in. I am my best self when that happens, so I make sure of it.
I used to resist spending money on practical things like rainboots, but truly having the right gear makes such a difference to navigating the seasons with ease and joy. A great jacket, good waterproof boots, an umbrella that is actually sturdy enough, gloves, etc. They are worth it!
These shoes are basically for everything else. I am obsessed with them. And they go with EVERYTHING.
Also. These. Just gonna leave them right here.
This Capsule Wardrobe (& Separate Pieces):
This brand is my latest favorite find, especially as a new mom. They do capsule wardrobes (aka, a handful of 5-7 simple pieces you can mix and match to create different looks without packing your closet to the brim with clothes). It’s seriously the best for feeling pulled together in under a minute flat, and I love that the pieces are all made sustainably too.
They have capsule collections you can buy as a set or individual pieces too (which is what I did). I love their flounce sleeve shirt so much (it can be worn three different ways, I have the black and white one) and this apron jumpsuit that has the cutest back detail that you can tie 4 different ways, layer with a long sleeve, wear on its own for date night, etc. See all their other great options here!
A Fall Occasion:
I feel like this would be perfect for almost any type of fall occasion– date night, a wedding, a big presentation day. But who needs a reason?
The Everyday Staples:
I can’t write about my Fall wardrobe staples and NOT mention my daily uniform. Lululemon align pants, sports bra and lately this top (it’s on sale!). Then a little layer like this one over it. I can go from my desk to a walk to squeezing in my quick 15 minute workouts in the same thing. So like, the ultimate efficiency, AND I know I’ll be so comfortable and ready for anything in mom life too (a little spit up, lots of food, rolling around on the floor) and with a quick wipe, it all disappears and is so easy to wash, move in and feel pulled together.
So, ALL THE PRAISE HANDS go up for these. Aka, my favorite clothing item of all time….. and what I wear 98% of the time: these Align pants. They worked pre-pregnancy, during pregnancy (I sized up one size), and post-pregnancy too. They literally feel like butter and I tell as many people as I can to just get a pair, because you won’t regret it. Runner-up picks go to the Free To Be bra, these high-waist pants in the pink or grey print (so many of you have asked where these are from on IG lately) and their long rain jackets (this one is awesome).
The Softest Pajamas:
You need these. Just trust me on this. (Plus they’re from everyone’s favorite store, score.)
Blue Light Blocking Glasses:
For the afternoons & nights that getting off your screens (phone, TV or computers) isn’t realistic… and maybe double since “night time” will start at 4:30 or 5pm now. 🙂 Known to help with eye strain, headaches and of course, getting better SLEEP! I just got a pair of these, and have been loving them. Other cute pairs like these and these too. Other brands like Urban Outfitters, Warby Parker, etc. are starting to make these too.
TO EAT & DRINK:
One thing I do really love about Fall? The food. It’s all the summer bounty (tomatoes, peppers, lettuces, squashes, etc) PLUS all the hearty soups, warming-to-the-bone bone broths and tea for days.
This Tea:
You have to try this three cinnamon flavor. So good, all organic and caffeine free for evenings or anytime of day! A good thing to alternate my normal nightly routine of Traditional Medicinals Chamomile (also a great pick).
Healthade Kombucha:
The bubbly rose flavor is everything (especially for you fellow wine lovers out there… P.S. did you see my recent post all about why I switched to natural wines? It’s a goodie. Because it’s always a good idea to just upgrade what you’re sipping on, no matter the time of day.) I love this option for a little afternoon boost!
Daily Harvest Freezer Bites:
Frozen bites? In the Fall? But imagine it: get out those cozy pajamas in the clothes section of this post, with a warm cup of that cinnamon tea and one of these chocolate hazelnut fudge or chickpea chocolate chip cookie dough bites. OMG. It’s heavenly. And sometimes you need a bite of something sweet. These are a great way to do it– without spiking your blood sugar. They are full of nutrients, healthy fat and adaptogens for whatever your body needs.
I have a code for those that want to try any of daily harvest’s smoothies, warm bowls or these bites. Just enter ‘simplyrealhealth” at checkout for up to $40 off your first order.
Or check out my freezer fudge bites recipe if you want to make your own at home!
This Chili:
I know, I know, a classic. I never ever get sick of this recipe, and it’s the perfect reminder that soup season is a good season. Also, the split pea soup from the cookbook, which I’ve been short-cutting by adding all the ingredients to the instant pot.
More Soup for All:
And of course the 15(!!!) new soup recipes coming for you in the new cookbook! Have you pre-ordered your copy yet?! November 19th, people. It’s coming in hot!
Pumpkin-Zucchini Bread anyone? I’ve been loving re-visiting this recipe and swapping out the apples for 2 shredded (and squeezed) zucchini. Added veggies, check. Also great for muffin making!
Chocolate: It’s Own Food Category.
This healthy hot chocolate. With adaptogens to help your nervous system and body do #ALLTHE THINGS. I love blending mine as a afternoon pickmeup with 1/2 water, 1/2 cashew or almond milk and a splash of maple syrup. I have a code for 10% off any of these amazing adaptogenic bevvies if you want it. Just use the code “simplyrealhealth” at checkout!
Also bar wise, I’m loving this new option from Alter Eco. Dark (dark) chocolate mint. So much less sugar than normal dark chocolates and a great minty taste (and no chemies!)
KITCHEN MUST-HAVES
I live for a great kitchen hack or tool that makes cooking a little easier. These are my go-tos all season long because they help make all the cozy foods & bevvies so much simpler. Which is always my goal.
Tea Strainer:
This tea strainer for loose leaf tea & making your own infusions. It is so fun to come up with your own blends and creations. Making tea is one of my favorite rituals, especially in the late afternoon. Right now I’m loving loose chamomile and rose flowers together (plus it’s so pretty to look at, but I have some nettle leaf lined up too with a little raw honey).
This Kettle:
This electric kettle is literally one of my favorite things in my kitchen, (and it now comes in a really pretty white color too). It heats water in less than a minute and I love that it’s beautiful enough to sit on the countertop, too. Cozy fall tea time just got way easier (and great for baby food making and warming, too).
Warm Bevvie Mugs:
While we’re on the topic of cozy bevvies, I’m obsessed with these mugs and just got a pair of them. These ones are so cute, too and so not expensive at all. Need ideas of what to make? Check out my free bevvie guide here!
Dried Beans to Soup in 15 minutes:
I was skeptical at first– not another gadget! Was the instantpot really as great as everyone was saying? But, yes. If you love soups, stews and turning frozen food to a hot meal in 15 to 30 minutes flat, then it’s an amazing tool. I love it because we pretty much eat only one-pot meals this time of year, but I don’t always have the time to plan 8 hours ahead like a slow cooker entails.
Natural Candles:
Everynight I dim all the lights and light up all the candles. I DO love that part of fall– the transition into a cozy night. I love keeping one of these on the kitchen counter, in bathrooms and in our bedroom. They don’t have any paraffin, lead or synthetic fragrances in it, so I can light ‘em all up and not worry. The best of both worlds!
SKIN & BEAUTY BOOSTERS
True or extra true? We can all use a skincare boost once the chilled winds and lower temps start to set in. I love more dewy, hydrating skin products this time of year (with clean, natural ingredients of course). Here are allll of my Fall staples that I use on the daily right now.
To Glow:
I’ve been obsessed with this brand so much lately, and I’ve been using this face cream straight for 3 weeks now and IT IS UNREAL you guys. My few favorite. This is a beautiful feeling and smelling facial moisturizer, with light whipped texture and the best not-too-overpowering scent. My skin (even as a new mama running on 6-7 hours of sleep a night) does look glow-ier 🙂
To Serum:
I bought this to complement the day cream. I’m not sure if it’s the combo or just the cream, but WHAT new mom tired face?! Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration. But still, if I notice it, it must work wonders for others.
This Signature Palette Set:
Ok, this is the most amazing clean beauty find I’ve had as of late– and all ingredients are pure! The red is the perfect lip gloss, the pink is the perfect blush and the golden and golden brown is great for highlighting, eyeshadow and bronzers. SO FREAKING FUNCTIONAL! A travel (or car) must.
This Bath Set-Up:
Because beauty isn’t just about what we use on our skin, but how we take care of ourselves, too. Slowing down, breathing or just getting a moment to yourself are all included. My favorite way if I have the time? A warm bath. And this just elevates it. Pair it with your favorite Primally Pure bath salts or magnesium/natural epsom salts, a few drops of essential oils and your favorite clean-burning candle.

MUST-READ & MUST-LISTEN
Ooo, give me all the books and feel-good music this season, please. It’s such a perfect time to slow down, take a beat and delight in the little things
#WOOWOOBOOKCLUB anyone? You know I’m always reading at least one of them over here. I love the idea of there being more to odd synchronicities and unexplainable coincidences… This book dives deep into all of that and then some.
Also, if you have never read it, this is my favorite self-development book of all time. It’s so relevant to read this time of year as schedules, comittments and life picks up into full gear.
This is 100% fueling my enneagram obsession. So, so good if you’re interested in more insight to your personality type and how to hone your relationships, career and life based on your deepest strengths.
This has been the soundtrack to those that are always asking me about my morning tunes. From my matcha making to my daily 10-minute stretch & yoga sessions, this is on repeat right now.
