This past weekend, I was completely immersed.
And without knowing what I was getting into at all, I just said yes.
(Because when Lululemon invites you to be their guest, that’s all there really is to say). #amiright?
So I flew to Austin to be completely surround by, poured into and wrapped up in the following:
Vibrating energy of the best kind.
In light.
In gratitude on the deepest level.
Getting little tastes, here at there, into the power of the human potential.
Whoa, big talk, right?
It was.
For 5 days straight, with 49 other strangers of the most soulful, rad, inspiring and passionate kind, we all kind of wondered what we were doing there. How we got picked, and what the whole point was, of this mysterious little event.
And if we’d have to be doing 9 hours of yoga per day. Ok, so maybe that was just me.
We sweat daily with Baron Baptiste (whoa) on our yoga mats, had daily meditation and kundalini sessions with Gabby Bernstein (the woman who literally changed my life 4 years ago when I heard her speak), laughed, cried, ate, drank and got right down to the deep stuff.
As yoga teachers, artists, photographers, small business owners, designers and non-profit owners. We talked community, personal development, and resilience. And followed it with a little social media, meditation and the future of the world we live in.
But, most of all, we talked growth- physically, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. So that we can help serve others and be a agent for change and helping people live a more alive life, by just being our perfectly-imperfect selves.
With every workshop and class, I just kept thinking about one thing: how we all have such an innate power to create our environment- both in our thoughts, bodies, and physical spaces.
No matter what our current story, or history is.
We have the choice. And daily. To actually create our story and legacy.
That we get to choose:
- How we talk (to others, and maybe more importantly– to ourselves)
- To let love (instead of fear/anxiety/negativity), lead our decisions, conversations and actions.
- To accept other people instead of trying to change them. But also the power to choose who you surround yourself with in the first place.
- What we fuel ourselves on (physically with food, but also intellectually and emotionally with what we consume)
- How to create love in our work and daily routines.
We get to choose to live in a way that love conquers all, and is not only an emotion and an act, but a energy vibe you can give to people without even speaking a word.
Personally, I think that when you live life in this way, you will be guaranteed to be guided in exactly the direction of exactly where you’re supposed to be, who you’re supposed to meet, and doing the things you feel called to do.
Without judgement. Or worry. Or low grade things that can tend to get in the way.
It’s empowering, and powerful.
And I might just know from my own experience.
I mean, make that a definite.
That might have been the thing that made me cry 2 minutes into my yoga mat. That, because of choosing love and following everything that pushed me or made me grow, there I was. In the same room as the teachers who taught me so much from afar- through their books and you tube videos- and got me through the darker times. Except this time, it was in person. Was this real life?
I could barely believe it.
But, it’s been a true commitment to a journey of growth. To rising up to challenges, and to honoring the soft calls of your soul.
And, living a life of love.
It’s a choice we will likely have to make over and over again, with things big and small.
We just have to be mindful enough to know when things are pointing us in the YES or the MMM MAYBE NOT. Instead of living life in autopilot.
To be the best perfectly, imperfect version of ourselves, and to let others do and be the same.
All this from a weekend with an apparel company? What was in it, for them? I kept asking myself all weekend.
And this is what I figured out:
That although those black pants are amazing, the company is actually a personal development company, with a side retail arm.
They’re a company refreshingly committed to making change, not only with the big huge people in the world, but on a smaller, more intimate level. Within people’s communities. And within all different industries that affect people’s lives, not just fitness.
That vibrancy and living an inspired life, is contagious. And an idea worth investing it, in spreading and in encouraging the world to embrace.
