So be sure to come by and visit the blog weekly this month and get a little dose of inspiration, encouragement and true, big healthy LOVE.
So today, I’d like you to meet Miss Jaclyn.
Late 20’s, traveling the world and navigating real life both in the States and abroad. The girl has lived in Germany, London and Prague since I’ve know her [what?!]. A girl now living more fully, alive and committed to real food for the long haul.
Q (Sarah): Tell me 5 words that describe yourself:
A (Jaclyn): Relaxed, fun, motivated, outgoing, adventurous!
3 words to describe your life currently:
Busy, always changing, CRAZY.
How long has it been since we started our work together?
We worked together in September 2013, so around 5 months.
What was your “last straw” moment? The time that you remember thinking- “This is enough! I’m ready for a change that’s going to last.”
My “last straw’ moment was after trying another fad diet that involved a lot of protein powder and something about astronauts using these packets. I remember being so sick that I threw up after drinking one and I kept thinking there has to be a better way then constantly searching for the next best way to lose weight and always going to the extreme to lose weight. But I didn’t really know how.
What was going through your head when we first started working together (you can be honest—were you doubtful, etc?)
Well, to be honest, I was actually pretty excited to work with you because my cousin so strongly recommend you– specifically because of your different take on “healthy” food and more of a lifestyle approach. She knew I wouldn’t jive well with someone just giving me a set plan. With traveling so much, it had to be something I could do abroad or here, or wherever I happen to be . I think after a certain amount of time you get sick of dieting and never really changing the whole way you think about food, learning to cook some basic things, etc. So, it was just time. I’d tried everything else and knew I had to re-learn a lot when it came to my food.
What is different about your day to day life post working together? This can be anything you want. How are you different: mentally, physically, spiritually or emotionally?
Yes. I don’t crave sugar or bread stuff anymore, and don’t drink diet coke anymore! That is the biggest thing I’m the most proud of 🙂 I would say that I just feel better when I am eating better! It has made such a huge impact and it is so much fun trying on new clothes/new recipes/just an overall better feeling about everything.
What is your favorite real food?
Baked sweet potatoes. And eating a whole avocado. Both foods that were so off limits in all the diets I had tried before! They are so decadent and filling. I never thought I’d say that…
What is your favorite real food recipe and/or what real-food recipe do you make the most often?
Fajita Stir Fry (without the meat) and the Mango Chicken Salad from the Fall Meal Plan! They are my go-to everytime and my friends love them too!
What would be your advice to someone who used to be just like you and/or a healthy tip to share with everyone?
I would say the hardest thing for me was giving up the idea of having results immediately. My advice is just to trust what you (Sarah) are guiding them to do each week, and to focus on those small changes and being mindful of it all. After going through the process and you helped me pinpoint my digestive stuff and feeling sick to eating wheat products, I have felt like a different person. And I never thought I could give that stuff up. So just trusting the process and having faith in it. Sometimes the last thing you want to do is cook or go to the store, but just do it. You’re worth it, which is something I had to learn to do. Once you connect those things to how you feel, it’s a no brainer.
